Post 6: Summer plans

My favorite time of the year had always been summer and the vacations, so much to choose from. However, the summer that is about to arrive will be different, because we`re in a complicated global context. At times it makes me very sad to know that there`s the possibility of continuing to be locked up at home, missing my family and friends, but I believe that it can be an opportunity to reconnect with our inner selves and rest for a moment from the virtual life of the last few months.

If everything goes well, I would like to be able to go to the beach with my family and my boyfriend, to the Central Coast. No doubt I`ll miss camping in the south of Chile, but it`ll be for the next vacation, since for now we have to take care of ourselves. Also, I hope to be able to meet up with my friends that I haven't seen for months; I miss them a lot.

I was thinking of remodeling my room, painting it and changing some of the decorations to I feel new and renewed energies. In addition, to taking up sewing again and maybe enrolling in some online course in the area.

I also intend to read several of the books I`ve pending, some are about feminism and others about history, maybe which can be considered as a summer study. 

Post 5: TV shows and series

There`re various series that I like them very much, I don't know how to decide on one to be "my favorite". I like "Velvet", "Anne with and E", "Cable girls", among others. However, all they`ve something in common, women characters who manage to overcome different obstacles in different times, that is to say, they`re series with a feminist perspective and... I love them for that.

I like that type of series, because I think all women at some moment in our lives have been discriminated in a certain way just for the simple fact of being women in this very patriarchal world, dominated by men for centuries. I watch those series, in which their empowered protagonists achieve what they set out to do, despite the multiple problems that cross their path, and give me the courage to face the difficulties that I face as a woman, I think: "If they could, so I can too".

The truth is that there`re various series that I`d like to see, which I hope to see during the summer holidays, for example "The Crown" and "Enola Holmes". In addition, there`re various others that have recommended me and that I will try to give them a chance, such as "Dark" and "BoJack Horseman".  (I would appreciate it if you could recommend me other series, despite their "type").

 

Post 4: My future job

In the future, I would like to work on the development of public policies, I don't know in what ambit, and also on teaching and research, I wish that both works could complement each other.

I imagine that my future work will be full of challenges and efforts, probably it will be tiring, but with great results, wich it will make me feel enormously happy, because I will be contributing to the common good.

In fact, I hope to be able to work as outdoors, in search of realities, as indoors, where I can analyze various data and factors that influence the contexts to be studied. It´d be great to be able to travel for work. However, it isn't a priority. With respect to the salary, I don´t expect to become a millionaire with the work I want, but I´d like to have the resources necessary to live without great concerns in the economic ambit.

I´ve thought about doing the Master's Degree in Management and Public Policy, to I can have more and better tools in relation to public policies, because I think it´s an important element when making changes that benefit society. 

Post 3: My favorite movie

My favorite movie is "Freedom Writers". This movie deals with topics about the racial segregation and civil rights in the United States. I consider that the movie is very soulful and inspiriting. The teacher`s role is admirable, because despite the various problem that it faced, she never decline in her ideal of reducing gaps between white and black people. Hence, she continued to work hard and effort to obtain the onfidencee of your students, who were the marginalized of society. In consequence, the movie evidence the social inequalities and prejudices, which don`t contribute to building a better society. 

I prefer to watch movies that deal with historical events or documentaries, because that way I can learn new thing, because... I like it!. Especially those more current documentaries that show places and their culturies, because it gives me the feeling that I am in that place, I feel that I travel. 

The last movie that I saw was "Batman Begins", I had never seen this film and I don`t know why, if it`s so good. Hence, if you still don`t see it, do. That is to say, is that obviously I recommend it.

Post 2: The best holiday

 

In the winter`s 2018, my family (my parents, brother and sister) and I traveled to Patagonia, specifically we flied to Punta Arenas. While we were there, about one week, we went to different places that sourround the city.

One day we visited the “Última Esperanza” fjord, we get up very early in the morning. If I remember correctly, that morning there was -7º C. It was really very cold. It was still dark when we had to take a boat to go see the Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers (I'm afraid to embark on any type of boat). However, when I saw the sunrise, I had to go out on the deck of the boat. Despite the cold burned my face, I was very happy seeing that awesome landscape.

Another day we went the Torres del Paine National Park, despite the season, that day was sunny. Hence we could perfectly see the “towers”, they were really huge and beautiful.

That travel has been the best, because I had fantastic moments with my family, which now are wonderful memories, in addition to importance personal reflections.

Post 1: A country I'd like to visit

  

I would like to get to know México, despite the bad things that happen there and the negative comments that exist about the country, I find that they are very rich culturally. Although, I would only go on a trip to walk around, get to know and be enchanted by the new. I think about Mexico and I see many colors, I feel delicious flavors, I hear rhythms and I conceive the weight of history. 

Since I was a child, around the age of 7 or 8, I deeply admire Frida Kahlo. Due to the explosion of her image for some years now, I think it is not necessary to say who she was. Hence, I am quite excited about the idea of being able to know the place where she lived.

Furthermore, since half of my family is from the South, always the Rancheras have been part of the musical repertoire of family meeting; part of my history. So, also I would like to know the origin of Ranchera music. As well, I would like to know the appreciation that this country has for the art, especially music, because many Latinos have reinvented their artistic careers in those lands. I think that there must be some great charm in México. 

Finally, I would like to be able to taste the real tacos, to appreciate its wonderful beaches and its colorful and beautiful embroidery.
